Content Marketing World 2014 Beer Cocktails: Drink to Your Heart’s “Content”

For the third consecutive year, Skyword is proud to be a major sponsor of CMI’s Content Marketing World, the largest gathering of content marketing professionals on the planet.

World-renowned brands such as Kraft, Cisco, SAP, and Microsoft as well as more than 1,700 marketers will be attending the conference, which takes place in Cleveland, Ohio. The event boasts an outstanding list of speakers: Jason Miller of LinkedIn, Melyssa Banda of Western Digital, Patrick Cassidy of New Balance—and a closing keynote delivered by the one and only Kevin Spacey.

You probably know that great drinks are essential to every great party. It’s a tradition here at Skyword to create a signature cocktail list for Content Marketing World based on a central theme (see 2012’s social-inspired cocktails and 2013’s “Rock”tails). This year, the opening party is a pub crawl—so instead of one party with one theme, conference attendees will get three parties with three themes! The main ingredient in each of the special concoctions is beer.

Without further ado, here’s the list for Content Marketing World 2014:


Bar #1: Market Garden Brewery
Theme: Ohio

Cleveland (on the) Rocks
Jumpin’ Jane Jean and moonin’ James Dean know this blueberry cocktail, inspired by the Ian Hunter classic, rocks. You can also call it the Drew Carey Blueberry (or The Ice Is Right).

The 23
The King hath returned. This season, No. 23, LeBron James, will once again suit up and clap chalk for the Cleveland Cavaliers, so let’s toast to his return and welcome Kevin Love to the fold with a tried-and-true favorite: the shandy.

The C.M.W. (Citrus Medley Wonder)
The Citrus Medley Wonder (C.M.W.) is an automatic favorite of Joe Pulizzi and his crew at CMI. This orange-hued drink, a delicious blend of wheat beer and blood-orange soda, is also perfect to celebrate the start of Browns football.

Bar #2: Bier Markt
Theme: Kevin Spacey

House of Carbs
For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there can be no mercy—just this delicious combination of wheat beer and lemonade that we will stream into your cup.

Frank-ly Under-rated
Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice come together to form this classic underrated cocktail that Frank Underwood loves more than sharks love blood.

American Beer-ty
You will have this drink today. Lillet Blanc, honey gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, light beer—there is so much beauty in this drink, you won’t be able to stand it.

The Un-Usual Suspects
Who is Keyser Söze? After you taste this unusual Oscar-worthy concoction of porter, Stoli Vanilla, and simple syrup, you’ll be having too much fun being Verbal with your friends to care.

Bar #3: Great Lakes Brewery
Theme: Social/Content

Sweet Tweet
From Michigan to Ontario, be more #social and find new tweeps with this icebreaking beverage. Drink this combo of pomegranate liqueur, triple sec, and Commodore Perry IPA (or your choice) to your heart’s content.

The Creative Cure
Publishing deadline just around the corner? Has writer’s block set in? Cue the Creative Cure, a mix of Stoli Orange, grapefruit juice, ginger ale, and Dortmunder Gold Lager so certain to get your fingers typing, it’s almost Erie.

Pinterest-ing Porter
What makes this porter Pinterest-ing? It’s a firkin, only brewed here at Great Lakes Brewing Company, and it’s a Fitz Porter beer, brewed with cherries and vanilla to make it Superior. Huron-estly going to love it.
